Account & Profile

Click Get Started Free on the home page or Sign Up on the login page. You'll fill in your personal details (name, age, gender) in step 1, then your account details (email, username, password) in step 2. After that you're in.
No. Username and email are permanent identifiers and cannot be changed after signup. You can update your name, age, gender, bio, and education details from your profile at any time.
Other users can see your name, username, avatar colour, bio, and education details (if filled in). Your email and password are never visible to anyone.
Go to Settings → Delete Account (gear icon in the sidebar). You'll be asked to enter your password to confirm. This action is permanent — all your messages, group memberships, and data are deleted forever.

Messaging

Yes. Fuse uses WebSockets so messages are delivered instantly the moment you send them — no polling, no delay.
Yes. Hover over any message you sent to reveal action buttons. Click the icon to edit or delete. Edited messages show a small "edited" label. Deleted messages show "🚫 This message was deleted" for everyone in the conversation.
Hover over any message and click the reply arrow. A reply bar appears above the input showing the quoted message. Press Escape or click × to cancel the reply.
Clear Chat removes the message history from your view only. The other person (or group members) still see all messages. It does not delete anything for anyone else.
Clear Chat hides old messages from your view but keeps the conversation in your sidebar. Delete Chat removes the entire conversation from your sidebar. Neither action affects the other person's view.

Groups

Any user can create a group. The creator automatically becomes the admin. Groups require a unique username (like @mygroup) which cannot be changed later.
Use the New Message search (pen icon in the sidebar). Search for the group's name or @username. Groups appear in the results with a "Join" button. Click it to join instantly.
The admin can edit the group name and about text, add or remove members, activate/deactivate HeartSpace, and start new HeartSpace rounds. The group username cannot be changed by anyone.
Admin role is automatically transferred to the next available member. If the admin is the last member, the group is deleted entirely.
Type @ followed by the start of their username in the message box. A popup will appear with matching group members. Use arrow keys or click to select.

HeartSpace

HeartSpace is a private feature inside groups where you can express how you feel about other members. You place each person into one of three categories — Love, Friend, or Casual. After the admin ends the round, you see colour-coded compatibility flags for each person you chose. Nobody else ever sees your selections.
Only the group admin can activate or deactivate HeartSpace via the three-dot menu or the HeartSpace modal. All members can see the heart icon and jump in once it's active.
No. Selections are final once you click Save and confirm. This is intentional — it keeps the results honest. You can only participate again when the admin starts a new round.
No. Each person can only be placed in one category. If you select someone in Love, they become unavailable in Friend and Casual, and vice versa.
The flag shows how your choice compares to theirs:
  • Green — Mutual. They placed you in an equal or higher category.
  • Yellow — Close. They placed you in a nearby category.
  • Grey — Noted. They placed you in a lower category.
  • Red — One-sided. They didn't select you at all.
Selecting Everyone in Casual means you're placing all group members into your Casual circle at once. Individual selections become unavailable when Everyone is chosen.
Never. Your selections and results are completely private. The server only returns your own data — no one else can see who you chose or what flags you received.
No. Results are preserved even after deactivation. You can view them anytime by opening HeartSpace and clicking View My Results. Results are only cleared when the admin starts a new round (re-activates HeartSpace).

Privacy & Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before being stored. The original password is never saved anywhere. Even the server cannot read your password.
Blocking prevents the person from sending you direct messages and hides your profile from them. They won't appear in your conversations list. You can manage your block list from Settings → Blocked Users.
Sessions are JWT-based and last 7 days. After that you'll need to log in again. You can log out manually at any time from the gear menu in the sidebar.
